Competent on patent filing, but communication was inconsistent

I engaged Wonji Kerper at Perkins Coie to assist with a utility patent application for a mechanical component my small business developed. Given her recognition in Intellectual Property and Patent Law by Best Lawyers, I was confident in her technical expertise, and that aspect was solid. The application she drafted was thorough and reflected her background from the University of Washington. However, my experience was mixed. While the final work product was good, there were noticeable delays in response times to my emails, sometimes stretching to a week. For someone navigating the patent process for the first time, clearer timelines and more proactive updates would have been very helpful. The billing was as expected for a firm of this caliber in San Diego. Ultimately, the job was completed adequately, and I have a filed application. I believe Ms. Kerper is a knowledgeable attorney, especially for the substantive legal work, but the client service and communication during the process felt just average. I would recommend her for straightforward IP matters where immediate responsiveness isn't a critical factor.
