Competent and experienced, but communication could be clearer

I engaged Steven Knott at Pillsbury for a complex construction defect claim that involved significant insurance coverage issues. His deep experience, particularly the 35 years in practice and his recognition in insurance law, was evident. He understood the technical nuances of the case immediately. However, the experience was mixed. While the legal strategy he developed was sound, there were often delays in receiving updates, and responses to emails could take several days. At times, the reasoning behind certain procedural moves wasn't fully explained, leaving me to fill in the blanks. The outcome of my matter was ultimately satisfactory, which speaks to his capability. For straightforward, high-stakes legal work, he knows his field, but be prepared to proactively manage communication expectations.
