Competent white-collar defense with some communication delays

I engaged Poonam Kumar at Gibson Dunn for guidance during a complex internal investigation at my tech company in San Jose. There was a potential issue with regulatory compliance that required immediate and discreet legal attention. Ms. Kumar's background in white-collar defense, including her recognition by Best Lawyers, was evident. Her analysis of the situation was sharp, and the strategy she outlined for dealing with federal regulators was professionally sound and gave our board confidence. However, the experience was not without its frustrations. While the substantive work was good, communication sometimes lagged. Responses to emails could take a day or more, and updates often felt reactive rather than proactive. Given the premium nature of the firm and her recognized expertise, I had expected a more consistently responsive partnership. For the critical legal thinking, she delivered. For the overall client service experience and managing expectations during a stressful period, there is definite room for improvement. She is clearly a capable attorney, but the execution felt uneven.
