Competent and recognized, but communication could improve

I engaged Phillip Londen of Osborn Maledon to handle a complex software licensing dispute that had both commercial litigation and intellectual property elements. His background, including his 2023 recognition in those specific areas by Best Lawyers, was a primary reason for my selection. Phillip's legal strategy was sound. He demonstrated a clear understanding of the technical nuances involved and his analysis of our contractual position was thorough. Ultimately, we reached a settlement that protected our core interests. However, my experience was a mixed bag. While Phillip's substantive work was competent, the practical aspects of client service fell short of my expectations. Response times to emails were often slower than I would have liked, sometimes taking several days, which created anxiety during critical phases. Updates felt more reactive than proactive, leaving me to initiate check-ins. For straightforward matters, his expertise is undeniable, but if you value frequent, clear communication and a highly responsive attorney-client dynamic, you may need to set very explicit expectations from the outset. He is a capable lawyer, but the overall service experience was merely adequate.
