A competent attorney, but communication was inconsistent

I hired Peter Kaufman after being injured by a defective medical device, a case squarely in his recognized expertise in mass torts and product liability. His 24 years of experience and the firm's reputation were major factors in our decision. On the legal merits, Mr. Kaufman was undeniably knowledgeable. He understood the complexities of the litigation and his strategy seemed sound. However, the experience fell short in day-to-day execution. There were often significant delays in receiving responses to emails or calls, leaving us in the dark for weeks at a time. While his associate was more accessible, we had expected more direct communication from a lead attorney of his stature. The case was resolved adequately, but the process felt more impersonal than anticipated given his 'Lawyer of the Year' recognition. He is clearly a skilled litigator, but client management and setting clear expectations for communication could be improved.
