Competent on the deal, but communication was inconsistent

I engaged Paul Adkins at Liskow & Lewis to assist with the acquisition of a small commercial property in Baton Rouge. His 10 years of general practice experience, particularly his background in commercial real estate, was evident in the diligence phase. He efficiently identified several key title issues and zoning restrictions that could have impacted our development plans, which was invaluable. The final documents were thorough and professionally drafted. However, my experience was mixed. While Paul is clearly knowledgeable, there were significant delays in communication. Responses to emails often took several days, and it was sometimes difficult to get a clear timeline for next steps. For a straightforward transaction, the process felt more protracted than anticipated. I never doubted his legal competence, but the client service aspect—managing expectations and maintaining a steady flow of information—was just adequate. He successfully closed the deal, but the journey there required more proactive follow-up on my part than I would have preferred for the level of engagement.
