Competent on employment matter, but communication could improve

I hired Nicole Cemo at Riley Safer Holmes & Cancila to advise on a complex employee separation agreement for a senior manager at my small business. Her background in Labor and Employment Law - Management was evident; she quickly identified several non-compete clauses that were overly broad and negotiated favorable revisions. It’s clear why she’s recognized in that field. However, the experience was a mixed bag. While the final work product was solid, there were often significant delays in receiving email responses, sometimes stretching to three or four business days, which created anxiety during time-sensitive negotiations. For straightforward matters, her one year of post-recognition experience felt sufficient, but I sometimes wished for more proactive guidance on strategy rather than just reacting to drafts. She is undoubtedly knowledgeable, especially given her Best Lawyers recognition in Commercial Litigation as well, but the client service aspect felt just adequate. The outcome was satisfactory, but the process required more follow-up on my part than I anticipated.
