Competent but communication could be more consistent

I hired Michelle Quijano at Davis Wright Tremaine to assist with a contract review for a small independent film project I was producing. Her background in Entertainment and Sports Law, and her recognition by Best Lawyers, were the primary reasons for my choice. She was certainly knowledgeable; her analysis of the talent agreement was thorough and she identified several potential pitfalls with backend participation that I had overlooked. However, my experience was mixed. While the legal work itself was solid, there were noticeable delays in email responses, sometimes taking several business days for a reply on time-sensitive questions. This created some anxiety during our negotiations. Additionally, the billing structure, while standard for a firm of this caliber in Los Angeles, felt somewhat opaque for the scope of our relatively straightforward review. Michelle is clearly a capable attorney who knows her field, but the client service and communication tempo didn't fully meet my expectations for a seamless experience.
