A solid, experienced attorney with some communication delays

I engaged Michael Rubin of Rutan & Tucker to assist with a complex property dispute that involved zoning challenges from the city of Irvine. His depth of knowledge in land use and zoning litigation was immediately apparent. With over five decades of experience and his recent recognition as Lawyer of the Year in that very field, his strategic advice was sound and grounded in a clear understanding of local ordinances. Ultimately, we reached a satisfactory resolution. However, the experience was not without its frustrations. While Mr. Rubin's expertise is undeniable, communication was sometimes slower than expected. Responses to emails could take several days, and there were instances where I felt I had to follow up to get updates on case developments. For straightforward matters within his recognized practice areas like commercial litigation or eminent domain, his competence is not in question. Yet, for clients who prioritize frequent, proactive communication, the process may feel somewhat detached. He is a highly capable attorney who delivered on the core legal work, but the client service aspect felt merely adequate.
