Competent and experienced, but communication could improve

I hired Michael Fisher of Stegmeier, Gelbart, Schwartz & Benavente to assist with a complex post-divorce modification involving child custody and support. With his 37 years of experience and recognition in Family Law Mediation, I was confident in his legal expertise, and that aspect was solid. He clearly understood the nuances of Orange County family court and his advice during our mediation sessions was strategically sound, leading to a fair outcome. However, my experience was a mixed bag. While his knowledge is undeniable, as evidenced by his Lawyer of the Year awards, practical client management felt lacking. Response times to emails were often slower than I expected, sometimes taking several business days, which added to my stress. There were also moments where legal strategies were not communicated as transparently as I would have liked, leaving me to piece together the next steps. For straightforward legal matters, his deep background from Western State University College of Law onward is a clear asset. Yet, for clients who prioritize frequent, proactive updates and a highly responsive attorney, the service level may feel just adequate. He is a capable lawyer who achieved the legal result, but the client experience itself was merely satisfactory.
