Competent handling of a workplace investigation

I retained Melissa Rake at Davis Wright Tremaine after a former employee filed a complaint with the state, alleging wrongful termination. Her background in Labor and Employment Law - Management was evident; she was thorough in reviewing our internal policies and the facts of the case. The matter was resolved without escalation, which was the primary goal. However, the experience felt somewhat transactional. Communication was sometimes delayed, with responses taking a day or two, and I occasionally had to follow up. The outcome was satisfactory, but the process felt merely adequate.
