A seasoned maritime litigator with deep expertise

Our company engaged Matthew Vafidis at Holland & Knight to handle a complex contractual dispute involving a delayed vessel delivery and subsequent cargo contamination. From our first meeting, it was clear we were dealing with a true authority in the field. His 43 years of experience, including his unique background starting as a barrister in London, provided a strategic perspective that was invaluable. He didn't just understand the letter of the law; he grasped the intricate operational realities of the shipping industry. His recognition as a 'Lawyer of the Year' in Admiralty and Maritime Law was evident in his command of both the commercial and environmental nuances of our case, which he navigated to a highly favorable settlement. Matthew is exceptionally thorough, and his counsel inspired confidence at every turn. The one area where we occasionally felt a slight delay was in email response times during particularly intense phases of his trial schedule, though his team was always responsive. For any significant maritime or commercial litigation in San Francisco, Matthew Vafidis is an outstanding choice whose depth of knowledge is truly impressive.
