Experienced and knowledgeable, but communication could improve

Mark Wicker at Perkins Coie has an impressive background, with his 40 years of experience and recognition in patent law, particularly in life sciences, being evident. I consulted him regarding patent strategy for a new medical device my startup is developing. His strategic advice on navigating the IP landscape was sound and grounded in his deep industry knowledge. However, the experience was somewhat mixed. While his expertise is undeniable, I sometimes found the communication from his office to be slower than expected, with occasional delays in receiving follow-up clarifications. For straightforward, high-stakes patent matters, his Columbia and Stanford pedigree shows, but be prepared to manage expectations on responsiveness. He is a competent attorney who delivered adequate results for our needs.
