Jonathan Benloulou at Kirkland & Ellis handled the acquisition of a small tech company I was selling. His technical knowledge from Harvard and his firm's reputation in M&A were evident; he was sharp on the due diligence and the structuring of the earn-out provisions. It's clear why he's recognized in that practice area. However, for a three-star review, I have to note that the experience felt a bit transactional. As a client, I sometimes felt like I was waiting for updates rather than receiving them proactively. While he was always prepared and his work product was solid, the overall communication cadence and managing of my expectations around timeline and next steps were just adequate. For a straightforward deal with an experienced client, he's certainly capable, but the client service aspect didn't quite match the legal expertise.
