I hired Jennifer Silvius at Withers to assist with a complex tax issue related to the sale of a family-owned business in San Jose. Her background in tax law and the recognition she has received in that field were the primary reasons for my choice. Jennifer demonstrated a clear understanding of the tax code and provided solid, practical advice that ultimately helped structure the transaction efficiently. Her analysis of the capital gains implications was thorough. However, the experience was somewhat mixed. While the legal work itself was sound, there were periods where communication lagged, making it difficult to get timely updates. Responses to emails sometimes took several days, and I occasionally felt I had to follow up to keep things moving. For straightforward tax matters, her expertise is evident, but managing client expectations and responsiveness could be improved. The outcome was satisfactory, but the process required more proactive management on my part than I anticipated.
