I engaged Jean Galloway Ball of Hale Ball Murphy PLC to assist my family with updating my mother's estate plan and navigating some long-term care considerations. Her expertise in elder law is evident, and her recognition in the field, including the Lawyer of the Year award, provided us with initial confidence. She has a deep understanding of the relevant Virginia statutes and was able to draft comprehensive documents. However, the experience was somewhat mixed. While the legal work itself was thorough, communication was not always as prompt as we would have liked. There were periods of several days where we awaited replies to non-urgent emails, and at times, her assistant seemed to be the primary point of contact rather than Ms. Ball directly. Her nearly nine years of experience and background from George Washington University Law School are solid, but the client service aspect felt just adequate. For straightforward legal matters, she is certainly competent, but if you require frequent updates or have a complex, evolving situation, be prepared to manage expectations regarding responsiveness. The final product was sound, but the process required more patience than anticipated.
