Competent on employment law, but communication could improve

I engaged Howard Waldman at FordHarrison for a complex non-compete agreement issue with a former employee. His knowledge of Florida labor and employment law was evident, and his background in litigation for management was reassuring. He correctly identified the key weaknesses in our initial draft and provided a solid, legally sound revision. The final document was thorough and reflected the expertise you'd expect from an attorney with his recognized standing in that field. However, the experience was somewhat mixed. While the work product was good, there were noticeable delays in email responses, sometimes taking several business days for a simple update. This made the process feel less collaborative than I had hoped. Additionally, the billing structure, while standard for the firm, wasn't as clearly outlined upfront as I would have preferred, leading to a minor surprise at the invoice. In summary, Mr. Waldman is clearly a capable attorney who knows his practice area well, and I would not hesitate to recommend him for straightforward legal analysis. For matters requiring frequent client touchpoints or very tight timelines, you may need to set very explicit expectations from the outset regarding communication protocols.
