Gary B. Gertler is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Los Angeles office. His practice focuses on the representation of hospitals, health systems, multi-specialty and single specialty medical groups, health care companies, practice management companies, and other health care providers with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, private equity and debt transactions for startup companies, hospital-affiliated group practices, joint ventures and syndications, health care regulatory and licensure issues, and general health care corporate matters.

Gary’s legal practice also covers the structuring and development of hospital-affiliated physician organizations, including medical foundations, co-management arrangements, ancillary product arrangements, including ancillary services involving outpatient surgery, diagnostic imaging, radiation therapy, rehab services, drugs, DME, and complimentary medicine; and management service organizations, practice management companies, integrated provider networks and related arrangements. Gary belongs to the California State Bar, the United States District Court, Central District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
He is also a member of the American Health Lawyers Association and the California Society of Healthcare Attorneys. Gary is a co-author of Navigating Your Way Through the Federal Physician Self-Referral Law, a comprehensive book analyzing the Stark laws, and State Laws and Regulations Governing Preferred Provider Organizations, a study published by the Rand Corporation for the Department of Health and Human Services and the Federal Trade Commission.
