Gail represents many of Hawaii’s major private and public hospitals and medical centers, physicians and other healthcare providers in medical malpractice cases before the Medical Inquiry Conciliation Panel (MICP) and in state and federal courts.Gail was recognized by Best Lawyers as “Lawyer of the Year” in 2023 for Medical Malpractice Law – Defendants in Honolulu, Hawaii. In January 2024, Gail was lead counsel and obtained a defense verdict for a medical center in a case involving sudden cardiac death of a patient following the patient’s discharge from the medical center. Gail is also an appointed member of the Judicial Arbitration Program which oversees the Court Annexed Arbitration Program.She practices primarily in civil litigation, medical liability, complex litigation, product liability, and toxic tort litigation.Gail has represented a domestic building products manufacturer in a multimillion-dollar property damage litigation brought by the State of Hawai‘i and an international architectural firm in a lawsuit for damage sustained to a resort hotel by Hurricane Iniki.OUTSIDE THE OFFICEAs an active member in the legal community, She is also part of the clinical teaching faculty at the William S. Richardson School of Law.In the Fall, “Gridiron Gail” emerges and cheers on her favorites – the University of Hawai‘i Rainbow Warriors and Kansas City Chiefs – through rain, sleet, snow, and vog, she is a loyal fan. Gail is also an avid baker and has watched every episode of the Great British Baking Show multiple times! Knitting and crocheting are also favored pastimes with an overly abundant stash of yarn and fiber. Gail is inspired daily by her Chocolate Labrador Belle, to be more doglike – energetic, selfless, resilient, forgiving, loyal and loving.
