Dan Morgan was admitted to the State Bar of Montana in 1995, and joined Montana’s federal bar and Bankruptcy Section in 1996, mostly representing debtors in Chapter 7 and 13 cases across the state. As a co-founder of Morgan Pierce, PLLP in 2007, Dan has expanded his caseload to include creditor rights and Chapter 11 issues. During 25 years of service to Montanans, Dan has educated other Montana lawyers through presentations and lectures at Continuing Legal Education courses. In 2019 and 2020, the US News & World Report's publication, The Best Lawyers in America included Dan, and in 2020, Best Lawyers named Dan as the 2020 Lawyer of the Year for Bankruptcy in Missoula. Dan Morgan handled my Chapter 13 filing last year. His long-standing experience with Montana's federal bankruptcy bar was evident; he clearly knew the local trustees and procedures inside out. The paperwork was filed correctly, and we achieved the debt relief we needed. However, the process felt somewhat impersonal. There were stretches where I wouldn't hear updates for weeks, and I often had to follow up myself. While his legal competence in debtor representation is solid, managing client expectations and maintaining consistent communication could be improved. For straightforward bankruptcy matters, he gets the job done, but you need to be proactive in staying informed.
