Competent on energy matters, but communication was inconsistent

I engaged Daniel Elizondo at Kirkland & Ellis for counsel on a commercial lease negotiation involving significant rooftop solar installation rights. His background in Energy Law, noted by his recognition from Best Lawyers, was evident in his grasp of the regulatory and contractual nuances specific to California. He provided a solid analysis of the power purchase agreement clauses. However, my experience was mixed. While the substantive work was technically proficient, there were noticeable delays in email responses, sometimes taking several business days for a simple update. For a firm of this caliber, I expected more proactive communication. The strategy meetings were thorough, but the follow-through on promised timelines felt lacking. Daniel is clearly knowledgeable, especially for a newer practitioner in the Los Angeles market, and his firm's resources are impressive. Yet, for the premium rate, the overall client service and management of expectations felt merely adequate, not exceptional. He resolved the core issue, but the process could have been smoother.
