Competent corporate counsel, but communication could improve

I engaged Callista Cody at Greenberg Glusker for guidance on a Series A funding round for my tech startup. Her foundational knowledge of corporate law, backed by her recognition from Best Lawyers, was evident in the diligence she applied to our term sheet and corporate governance documents. The work product was solid and technically correct. However, the experience felt somewhat transactional. As a newer attorney, there were times when I felt I needed to follow up more than expected to get updates, and explanations sometimes leaned heavily on legal jargon without always bridging to practical business impact. For straightforward corporate structuring, she is certainly capable and brings the firm's reputable resources to bear. For a more collaborative partnership where strategic advice is clearly communicated, there is room for growth as her practice develops.
