Competent on banking structure, but communication was inconsistent

I engaged Andrew Cheng at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher to assist with a complex loan restructuring for my mid-sized tech firm. His background in Banking and Finance Law, including the recognition from Best Lawyers, was evident in his grasp of the regulatory and structural details. He provided a solid analysis of the credit agreement amendments and identified several key leverage points during negotiations. However, the experience was mixed. While the final work product was technically sound, there were noticeable delays in receiving drafts, and responses to emails were sometimes slower than expected, especially given the fast-paced nature of our deal timeline in San Francisco. At times, I felt I had to follow up multiple times for status updates, which added unnecessary stress. For straightforward, high-stakes banking matters, his expertise from the Los Angeles market is clearly valuable, but the client service aspect felt more transactional than collaborative. The outcome was satisfactory, but the process could have been smoother with more proactive communication.
