Competent and experienced, but communication could improve

I engaged Mr. Morrison of Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd regarding a professional liability matter for my small engineering firm. His background in Professional Malpractice Law for defendants was a key factor in my selection, and his recognition in the field is well-earned. He demonstrated a solid grasp of the technical details and the relevant South Carolina law, drawing on his decade of experience effectively. The initial strategy he outlined was sound. However, the experience fell short in responsiveness. There were periods of several days where updates were not forthcoming, and at times, his communication felt more perfunctory than collaborative. While the legal work itself was competent and he ultimately helped us reach a reasonable settlement, managing client expectations and maintaining a consistent dialogue are areas for improvement. For straightforward defense work, he is capable, but be prepared to follow up proactively.
