Competent commercial litigation work, but communication could improve

I engaged William Paulk of Spotswood Sansom & Sansbury to handle a breach of contract dispute for my small business. His background in commercial litigation and recognition by Best Lawyers in that field gave me confidence. He clearly understood the nuances of the case, and his 18 years of experience were evident in his strategic approach. The outcome was ultimately satisfactory. However, the process felt somewhat impersonal. There were periods where updates were sparse unless I initiated contact, and responses to emails sometimes took longer than expected. While I appreciate his legal acumen and the firm's reputation in Birmingham, the client experience in terms of proactive communication was merely adequate. He is a skilled attorney who gets the job done, but managing client expectations could be a stronger point.
