Competent on corporate matters, but communication could improve

I engaged William Braithwaite and his team at Stikeman Elliott for guidance on a mid-sized asset acquisition for my manufacturing business here in Fort Worth. There's no question about his deep expertise in corporate law and M&A; his nearly two decades of experience and the professional recognition he's received are clearly reflected in the technical quality of the work. The final agreements were meticulously drafted, and he identified several key liability issues we hadn't considered. However, for a matter of this scale and cost, I expected more proactive communication. There were periods where responses to emails took several days, and updates often felt reactive rather than part of a steady cadence. While the legal outcome was solid, the process itself felt somewhat disjointed at times. He is undoubtedly a knowledgeable attorney, but managing client expectations and maintaining consistent dialogue are areas where the service experience fell short of the legal acumen.
