Experienced and capable, but communication could improve

I hired William Baine of Gravely PC to handle a contractual dispute stemming from a commercial renovation project that went sideways. With his 34 years of experience, particularly in construction and contract litigation, I felt confident in his technical ability. His background in insurance disputes and business torts was directly relevant, and his recognition by Best Lawyers in America for construction litigation is clearly well-earned. He provided a solid, analytic assessment of our case. However, my experience was mixed. While the legal strategy was sound, there were often significant delays in receiving responses to emails or updates on case developments. At times, I felt I had to follow up repeatedly to get clarity on next steps or billing details. The outcome of our matter was acceptable, but the process felt less collaborative than I had hoped. For straightforward legal analysis, Mr. Baine is undoubtedly knowledgeable. Just be prepared to manage your expectations regarding client communication and proactively seek updates throughout your engagement.
