Knowledgeable and Professional

Warner Delaune was instrumental in helping our company secure a critical patent for a medical device. His 34 years of experience in patent law, particularly in the medical and biomechanical fields, was evident in the way he navigated complex legal nuances. While his expertise is undeniable—reinforced by his 2024 Lawyer of the Year recognition in trademark law—we did find his response times slightly inconsistent, which occasionally delayed our communications. That said, his depth of knowledge and strategic approach ensured our intellectual property was well-protected. The final outcome was outstanding, and we’d certainly recommend him for patent and technology law matters.

Expertise with a Personal Touch

Warner Delaune handled a complex patent application for my medical device startup, and his 34 years of experience were evident in every step. His deep knowledge of both the legal and technical aspects—particularly in biomechanics and medical technology—made the process far smoother than I anticipated. The firm, Phelps Dunbar LLP, has a strong reputation, and Warner’s Lawyer of the Year recognition (2024) for trademark law only added to my confidence. While his expertise was undeniable, I did notice that response times to minor follow-ups were sometimes slower than expected, which could be improved. Still, the final outcome was impeccable, and his ability to translate complex legal concepts into actionable steps was invaluable. I’d absolutely recommend him for patent and trademark work, especially in specialized industries.

Competent but Could Improve Communication

I worked with Warner Joseph Delaune on a patent application for a medical device, and while his expertise in technology law was evident, I found the communication could have been more timely. He held an impressive 34 years in the field, which provided confidence in his ability to handle complex intellectual property matters. However, there were periods where responses were delayed, and I had to follow up multiple times to get updates. The final outcome was solid—he clearly understood the technical aspects of my invention—but I would have appreciated more proactive communication throughout the process. His recognition in trademark and patent law speaks to his competence, and I’m sure he’s an excellent choice for those needing specialized legal guidance in technology or medical patent filings. Just ensure you’re prepared for some wait times and manage expectations accordingly.

Strong but inconsistent experience

Attorney Delaune is clearly a seasoned legal professional with impressive credentials, particularly in patent and trademark law. His experience spanning 34 years and recognition as a Lawyer of the Year in Trademark Law for 2024 speak for themselves. I engaged his services for a complex patent application involving medical technology, which is an area he has significant expertise in. The initial consultation was thorough, and his knowledge of the subject matter was evident. However, the communication during the process was somewhat inconsistent. While he was responsive during critical phases, there were periods where follow-ups took longer than expected, which created some uncertainty. The final outcome was favorable, and his technical understanding of the legal and patent landscape was undeniably valuable. That said, I would have preferred more consistent engagement throughout the process. For clients who prioritize meticulous oversight and timely updates, this might be an area to discuss upfront. Overall, a competent attorney with a strong background, but with room for improvement in client communication.
