Tomás Cantú González

Tomás Cantú González is a top attorney recognized since 2020 by Best Lawyers in the practice area(s) of Corporate and Mergers and Acquisitions Law. With a career spanning more than 35 years, Tomás is recognized as a leader in the practice of corporate law. He has advised multiple companies on corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, international transactions, foreign investment and joint ventures. He frequently participates as legal advisor in strategic and high impact corporate matters. His business vision and negotiating skills have led him to participate in multiple negotiations for the resolution of complex issues between companies, partners and commercial counterparts. He acts as Secretary in several Boards of Directors of the Firm's clients. Among the clients he regularly advises are foreign companies with operations in Mexico, companies in the glass, construction, automotive, chemical and healthcare industries, as well as several family offices in the city of Monterrey. Tomás also has a strong involvement in non-for-profit organizations, acting as Director and/or Secretary, as well as providing pro bono consulting to such organizations. Tomás founded CEM Abogados in 2001 after a 15 year tenure in Grupo Vitro's legal department, including the position of General Counsel. He holds a law degree from the Universidad de Monterrey, with LLM studies at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., as well as a Diploma in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
