Competent corporate counsel, but communication could improve

Thomas Kesler at Kilpatrick Townsend provided solid legal guidance for our mid-sized company's recent acquisition of a smaller competitor. His 18 years of experience and recognition in M&A law were evident in the thoroughness of the due diligence process and the final agreement structure. We felt the legal work itself was sound. However, our experience was mixed on the service side. There were periods where responses to our team's emails took longer than expected, which created some anxiety during tight negotiation windows. While we never doubted his expertise—his background from the University of Florida and his Best Lawyers recognition are impressive—managing client expectations on timelines could be more consistent. For straightforward corporate matters, he is certainly capable, but the overall experience felt more transactional than collaborative.
