Competent corporate counsel, but communication could improve

I engaged Thomas Kagerer at Kirkland & Ellis for guidance on a mid-sized acquisition for my tech startup. His foundational knowledge of corporate law is evident, and his background, including recognition in the field, provided initial confidence. He was technically proficient in drafting the necessary documents and navigating the core regulatory aspects. However, the experience felt somewhat transactional. While his analysis was sound, there were noticeable delays in email responses, sometimes taking several business days, which added to our stress during time-sensitive negotiations. Explanations of complex terms were occasionally rushed, assuming a level of familiarity I didn't possess. For straightforward corporate matters, his competence from a top firm is clear, but for clients who value frequent, proactive communication and detailed walkthroughs, expectations should be managed. He delivered on the core legal work adequately.
