Competent employment counsel, but communication could improve

I hired Taylor Winn at Kelly Hart & Hallman to advise my small business on a complex non-compete agreement and potential litigation. His background as an Assistant U.S. Attorney and his recognition in labor and employment law by Super Lawyers were significant factors in our choice. During our engagement, Mr. Winn's legal analysis was thorough and his knowledge of Texas employment law was evident. He successfully navigated the initial dispute, and the outcome was satisfactory. However, the experience was not without its frustrations. Response times to emails were sometimes slower than expected, and there were instances where I felt I had to follow up to get updates on case developments. While his substantive work was solid, the overall client communication and proactive management of expectations felt just adequate. For straightforward matters requiring deep expertise, he is a capable attorney, but be prepared to manage the communication flow actively.
