Tara is and always has been passionate about serving people and being a voice for her clients. There is no greater satisfaction, thrill, or sense of personal achievement to her than knowing she has helped another. She was raised in a small town in North Carolina alongside her younger brother and two older sisters, and it was here that she learned the value of people and community. Tara was a leader throughout her college years and graduated from an accelerated program at East Carolina University prior to attending law school at Elon University School of Law. During law school, she worked in several clinics serving the local population and was awarded the Outstanding Clinical Student Award as a result. Since law school, Tara has had the opportunity to practice several different areas of law. She understands each case is unique and is dedicated to providing her clients with the zealous representation they deserve. Tara believes the most powerful tool she can provide her clients is knowledge of the law, so together they are able to make informed and educated decisions each step of the way. When Tara isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, volunteering in her community, cheering on her East Carolina Pirates, traveling with her husband, and spoiling their dog, Captain Jack Sparrow. When a former partner threatened to dissolve our family-owned distribution company, we were facing not just a commercial litigation nightmare but the potential collapse of a 30-year legacy. We needed an attorney who understood the intricate intersection of business law and the deeply personal stakes involved. Tara Harrawood at Marcellino & Tyson was exactly that. Her dual recognition in Closely Held Companies and Family Law wasn't just a line on a profile; it was the precise expertise we needed. Tara meticulously prepared our case, explaining every strategic decision without jargon, and her negotiation skills were formidable. She secured a settlement that preserved our business structure and protected our family's financial future, all while shielding us from a draining court battle. Beyond the commercial victory, she later seamlessly assisted us with a sensitive estate planning matter. Tara’s passion for being a true advocate is palpable.
