Bio

Steven F. Casey is a partner in the Litigation Practice Group. He maintains a diverse practice not only representing clients in court, but also in counseling clients in avoiding and managing litigation risks. Steve has extensive experience in the energy, pharmaceutical, chemical, banking, and aviation industries. He has litigated toxic tort, product liability, securities fraud, banking, ERISA, insurance, and contract cases. With more than 70 trials under his belt, Steve’s experience has allowed him to develop skill in assisting clients in finding creative solutions for complex business disputes. Steve has defended clients in mass toxic tort matters and class actions involving both mercury and polyfluorinated alkyl systems (PFAS), where claims have been made for personal injury, property damage and water pollution. Steve also successfully defended a generic pharmaceutical manufacturer in the first and only failure to warn case to go to trial in the United States involving the drug metoclopramide (Reglan®). Steve has served as national counsel for major pharmaceutical manufacturers in litigation involving several of their products and as regional counsel for many others. He represented some of those same manufacturers in Average Wholesale Pricing litigation in several states. He has also served as regional counsel for a well-known insurance company in its life, disability and ERISA litigation. In addition to his litigation practice, Steve has served as mediator and arbitrator in a variety of matters and has developed a niche practice representing more than 60 homeowner associations in virtually all aspects of their operations and formation. He also served as lead counsel for the shoreline management group of Alabama’s largest public utility for more than 30 years and has tried numerous eminent domain cases to juries across the state.
