Competent for business matters, but communication was inconsistent

I engaged Stephen Del Sesto of Pierce Atwood to assist with the restructuring of my family-owned manufacturing business in Austin. His recognition in Closely Held Companies and Family Businesses Law was a primary reason for my choice, and his substantive knowledge in this area is evident. He provided sound, practical advice on navigating the corporate formalities and tax implications, drawing clearly from his years of experience in corporate law. However, my experience was mixed. While the legal work product was thorough, there were significant delays in responsiveness. Emails and calls often went unanswered for days, which created anxiety during time-sensitive phases of our transaction. When we did connect, his guidance was valuable, but I frequently felt I had to manage the follow-up process myself. For a straightforward business reorganization, his expertise from Roger Williams University and his firm's resources were adequate to get the job done correctly. Yet, for a client who values proactive communication and clear timelines, the service fell short of expectations. He is undoubtedly knowledgeable, as his Lawyer of the Year recognition suggests, but the client service aspect of the practice did not match the caliber of the legal analysis.
