I engaged Stéphanie Tremblay at Fourcand, Tremblay, Kissel, Plante to assist with a complex cross-border estate matter involving assets in both Dallas and Montréal. Her recognition in Trusts and Estates by Best Lawyers was a primary reason for my choice, and her technical knowledge of Quebec's civil law system and U.S. estate planning was evident. She navigated the jurisdictional complexities competently. However, my experience was mixed. While the legal work was solid, I often experienced significant delays in receiving responses to emails, which added to my stress during an already difficult time following a loss. Setting expectations around timelines for document review and communication was an area that felt just adequate, not exceptional. For straightforward matters, her expertise is undeniable, but for clients who prioritize frequent updates, you may need to be very proactive in following up. She is clearly a skilled attorney, but the client service aspect didn't fully match the high level of her legal accolades.
