Experienced and knowledgeable, but communication could improve

I engaged Shepard Federgreen of Gibbons PC for a complex commercial lease renegotiation for my small business, a process heavily impacted by post-COVID market shifts. His 45 years of experience in New York real estate law were immediately apparent. He leveraged his deep transactional knowledge to identify several strategic options we hadn't considered, which was valuable. His recognition in Super Lawyers for real estate is well-earned in terms of pure legal acumen. However, the experience was mixed. While the final outcome was satisfactory, there were often significant delays in receiving responses to emails, and his explanations sometimes assumed a level of legal familiarity I didn't have, requiring me to seek clarification. For straightforward, high-stakes matters, his expertise from Cornell and decades at Gibbons is a solid asset, but be prepared to manage the communication flow proactively. The service was competent, but the client experience felt somewhat transactional.
