Competent IP guidance, but communication could improve

I engaged Shelagh Carnegie at Gowling WLG for assistance with a trademark application and potential infringement issue. Her recognition in Intellectual Property Law by Best Lawyers was a key factor in my choice, and her seven years of experience were evident in her thorough analysis of the case. The legal strategy she outlined was sound and professionally delivered. However, the experience was somewhat mixed. Responses to emails were often delayed by several business days, which created anxiety during time-sensitive phases. While the final work product was competent, the process felt less collaborative than I had hoped, with limited proactive updates. She is clearly knowledgeable, but the client service aspect felt just adequate for the firm's stature.
