Competent corporate counsel for a standard acquisition

I engaged Shannon Zollo and the team at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius to handle the acquisition of a small, local competitor for my Boston-based technology services firm. With over three decades of experience and her specific recognition in Mergers and Acquisitions Law, I was confident in her technical expertise. The transaction itself was handled competently; the due diligence was thorough, and the final agreements were precisely drafted, reflecting her deep background in corporate law. However, my experience was mixed on the service front. As a mid-market client, I sometimes felt like a lower priority. Response times to emails could be slow, and while my questions were eventually answered, the explanations were occasionally more complex than necessary for my level of understanding. The process met the basic professional standard I expected from a firm of this caliber, but the communication and accessibility didn't quite match the premium billing. For a straightforward deal, her legal acumen is solid, but manage your expectations regarding client service dynamics.
