I engaged Scott Mayland at Groom Law Group for guidance on a complex pension plan termination for our mid-sized company. His deep knowledge of ERISA and employee benefits law was immediately apparent, and it's clear why he's recognized in that field. The legal strategy he outlined was sound and technically proficient. However, the experience was mixed. There were often significant delays in receiving responses to emails, which created anxiety during time-sensitive phases. While the final work product was solid, the process felt less collaborative than I had hoped; explanations sometimes leaned heavily into jargon without clear translation to practical business impact. For straightforward, highly technical ERISA matters, his expertise is undeniable. For clients who prioritize constant communication and hand-holding, expectations may need to be managed.
