Competent corporate guidance with some communication delays

I engaged Scott Allen at Mogan Daniels Slager LLP to assist with the restructuring of my small family-owned manufacturing business. As a 2016 graduate of the University of Calgary with nearly a decade of experience, and the recognition from Best Lawyers in Corporate Law noted on his profile, his technical competence was evident. He provided sound, practical advice on the shareholder agreement amendments and navigated the corporate registry filings efficiently. The work product was solid. However, my experience was mixed on the service front. While Scott was knowledgeable during our meetings, there were often significant delays in receiving email responses, sometimes stretching to several business days, which created anxiety during time-sensitive phases. The fee structure, while likely standard for a Vancouver firm, felt substantial for the level of proactive communication I received. For straightforward corporate matters, Scott’s expertise is reliable, and his recognition in the field is understandable based on his legal acumen. I would recommend him for his corporate law knowledge, but with the caveat to set very clear expectations regarding response times and project milestones from the outset.
