Competent and knowledgeable, but communication could improve

I engaged Mr. de Carranza y Méndez de Vigo to handle a complex boundary dispute with my neighbor that was escalating toward litigation. His 12 years of general practice experience were evident; he had a firm grasp of the relevant property and civil law nuances. I particularly appreciated his strategic suggestion to pursue mediation first, which aligns with his recognized expertise in that area. The initial consultation was thorough, and he presented a clear, reasoned approach. However, the experience was not without its frustrations. There were periods of several days where I received no response to my emails, which created anxiety during a stressful time. While the final mediated settlement was favorable and he successfully kept us out of court—a testament to his litigation-recognized skill—the process felt less collaborative than I had hoped. His fees were as quoted, and his analysis was sharp, but the overall client experience felt somewhat transactional. For straightforward legal matters where you need a solid advocate, he is capable. Just be prepared to manage your expectations regarding ongoing communication and proactively follow up if you need updates.
