Competent IP guidance, but communication could improve

I engaged Samuel Coren at Perkins Coie for assistance with a trademark registration and potential infringement issue for my small tech startup in Seattle. His background in Intellectual Property Law was evident; he clearly understands the complexities of the field, and his recognition in Washington for IP advocacy is well-founded. The legal strategy he outlined was sound. However, my experience was mixed. While the substantive work was competent, there were often significant delays in receiving email responses, which created some anxiety during time-sensitive phases. For straightforward IP matters, he provides adequate service, but the overall client experience felt somewhat transactional. I would recommend him for his expertise, but with the caveat to set clear expectations regarding communication timelines from the outset.
