Competent on IP matter, but communication could improve

I engaged Sam Gunn at Alston & Bird for assistance with a trademark dispute for my small business. Mr. Gunn's legal analysis was sound, and his Duke Law background was evident in his thorough research. He was clearly knowledgeable on the intellectual property aspects, which aligns with the recognition he's received in that area. The strategy he outlined was practical and helped us reach a settlement. However, the experience felt somewhat transactional. There were periods where I had to follow up multiple times for updates, and responses weren't always prompt. For a junior attorney with his solid foundation, I expected more proactive communication and clearer timelines. He handled the legal work competently, but the client service aspect felt like it was still developing. He's capable, but the overall experience was just satisfactory.
