Salvatore G. Gangemi practices in the area of employment law and litigation. Specifically, he handles employment discrimination matters on the basis of sex, race, national origin, age, disability, religion and sexual orientation. In addition, he represents clients in retaliation cases under the anti-discrimination statutes, as well as matters under the Family and Medical Leave Act and Fair Labor Standards Act. In addition to representing clients, Mr. Gangemi frequently lectures on employment law matters, and has provided continuing legal education seminars at St. John's University School of Law twice each year since 1998. In addition, he has served on the faculty of Lorman Education Services in connection with its seminar entitled, "Family Medical Leave Act in New York." Mr. Gangemi has written extensively on employment law issues as well as other legal issues affecting individuals and businesses.In April 2008, Mr. Gangemi argued the case of Pachter v. Bernard Hodes Group, Inc. before the New York State Court of Appeals-- New York's highest court. His advocacy resulted in the New York Court of Appeals recognizing that all employees, including highly compensated individuals, are protected by New York's unlawful wage deduction statute. Salvatore G. Gangemi was recently selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® 20th Edition. In October 2012, Mr. Gangemi was named by Super Lawyers magazine as one of the top attorneys in New York State for 2012. Only five percent of the lawyers in the state are named by Super Lawyers. Mr. Gangemi was also named by Super Lawyers magazine in 2009, 2010 and 2011. In 2010, Mr. Gangemi was appointed to the Board of Advisors of the St. John's School of Law, Labor and Employment Law Center. Since 2009, Mr. Gangemi has served on the Executive Board of the National Employment Lawyers Association - New York.
