Competent but communication could be more consistent

I hired Ryan Billings to represent my small manufacturing company in a breach of contract dispute with a supplier. As a Wisconsin native with deep roots here, he understood the local business landscape well, which was a definite asset. His background in complex litigation for business entities was evident; he was thorough in his analysis of our case and drafted a very strong motion for summary judgment. Ultimately, we reached a favorable settlement before trial, which I believe was due in part to the strength of his written work. However, the experience was not without its frustrations. While Ryan is clearly knowledgeable, there were times when communication lagged. Responses to emails could take several days, and updates on case developments sometimes felt like an afterthought rather than a proactive part of client service. His billing was accurate, but the overall process felt somewhat impersonal. For straightforward business litigation where you need solid legal strategy, Ryan is capable. Just be prepared to manage your expectations regarding responsiveness and to follow up diligently yourself. He gets the job done competently, but the client experience aspect feels like it's running at a different pace than his legal mind.
