Competent on corporate structure, but communication could improve

I engaged Roland Hoffman-Theinert of Görg to assist with the cross-border acquisition of a small tech supplier based in Berlin. His recognition in Mergers and Acquisitions Law was a key factor in our selection, and his technical knowledge of the German regulatory landscape was evident and valuable. He efficiently navigated the due diligence process and identified several critical contractual liabilities we had missed. However, the experience was not without its frustrations. Given his split practice between San Antonio and Berlin, coordinating calls across time zones was challenging, and response times to emails were sometimes slower than expected for a fast-moving deal. While his substantive advice was always sound, the overall communication flow felt more reactive than proactive. For a straightforward corporate matter requiring specific German expertise, he is certainly capable. For clients who prioritize constant updates and a highly accessible point of contact, expectations may need to be managed. He delivered on the core legal work, but the client service aspect felt merely adequate.
