Knowledgeable but communication could be more consistent

I engaged Robin Eyben for guidance on a complex software licensing agreement for my Indianapolis-based startup, which was venturing into the European market. His recognition in Technology and Venture Capital Law was a primary factor in my selection, and his knowledge in these areas is evident. He provided a thorough analysis of the cross-border intellectual property clauses, and his background in Corporate and M&A law was helpful in structuring the deal's ancillary terms. However, the experience was mixed. While the final work product was solid, there were noticeable delays in email responses, sometimes taking several business days for a simple update. This created some anxiety during our negotiation timeline. Additionally, I found some of the explanations regarding German contractual nuances, while undoubtedly expert, to be a bit less accessible than I had hoped, requiring me to seek further clarification. For straightforward corporate matters, his expertise is clear, but for clients who prioritize frequent, proactive communication, expectations should be managed. He is competent and clearly recognized in his field, but the client service aspect felt just adequate for the premium level implied by his accolades.
