Competent and experienced, but communication could improve

I hired Mr. Ortbals to handle a complex non-compete agreement dispute with my former employer in St. Louis. With over two decades of experience and his recognition in labor and employment litigation, I was confident in his legal expertise, and that proved true. He understood the nuances of Missouri employment law and provided solid counsel. However, the experience was just adequate. There were often significant delays in receiving responses to emails, and I sometimes felt out of the loop on procedural timelines. While he ultimately achieved a reasonable settlement, the process felt less collaborative than I'd hoped. He knows his field, but client communication isn't his strongest suit.
