Expert guidance through a complex commercial loan restructuring

Our manufacturing company faced a severe liquidity crisis during a market downturn, and our primary lender initiated aggressive collection actions. We needed counsel who understood both the intricate legal frameworks and the practical realities of distressed business operations. Robert Diehl and his team at Bodman were recommended to us. From our first meeting, his deep experience in debtor-creditor rights and commercial workouts was evident. He didn't just recite legal statutes; he crafted a strategic, multi-path approach that considered our long-term viability. His recognition as a 'Lawyer of the Year' in banking and finance law was well-reflected in his nuanced negotiations with our lending syndicate. He successfully navigated us to a consensual forbearance and restructuring agreement that preserved our business. The one area where we occasionally felt a slight delay was in receiving non-urgent email responses, likely due to his demanding caseload. However, when it mattered, he was always available. His 28 years of practice, particularly his focus on complex business law in Detroit, provided invaluable context. We emerged stabilized and with a sustainable capital structure, thanks to his expertise.
